After a chance encounter on a tennis court in the late-1980s, U.S. Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Herman Obermayer, a former editor and publisher of the Northern Virginia Sun daily newspaper, became best of friends. In 2009, Mr. Obermayer published REHNQUIST, a memoir of the late Chief Justice which describes their friendship and offers a fascinating glimpse into Rehnquist's life. Mr. Obermayer will discuss Chief Justice Rehnquist from his unique perspective as a personal friend.

Pittsburgh's own Tom McGough of Reed Smith and Lee DeJulius of Jones Day were law clerks for Justice Rehnquist in 1979 and 2003, respectively. They will supplement Mr. Obermayer's remarks with their own observations about Rehnquist's personal and judicial legacy.
