Prof. Arkes is the Edward Ney Professor of Jurisprudence at Amherst College, and founder of the James Wilson Institute on Natural Rights and the American Founding.  
 
He is the author of numerous books, including First Things, The Philosopher in the City and Constitutional Illusions & Anchoring Truths: The Touchstone of the Natural Law. He is also a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, and National Review.
