This event is not open to the Press.

Please join the Milwaukee Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society for an event commemorating Justice Alito’s 20 years of service on the Supreme Court, featuring one of Alito’s former law clerks, Prof. J. Joel Alicea.

Twenty years ago this February, Samuel Anthony Alito Jr. became the 110th justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Few would debate the impact Alito has had on the law and the country, with Alito authoring landmark majority opinions in cases like McDonald v. Chicago, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, Janus v. AFSCME, and Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health. But even today, scholars disagree on how best to understand the jurisprudence of the Italian American from Trenton who once called himself a “practical originalist.” Joel Alicea, one of Alito’s former clerks and Professor at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, will join our chapter to share his insights regarding Alito’s remarkable tenure. In addition to having worked closely with Alito, Professor Alicea has also written on Alito’s jurisprudence, making him one of America’s foremost Alito experts.

Featuring:

Prof. J. Joel Alicea, St. Robert Bellarmine Professor of Law, The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law; Nonresident Fellow, American Enterprise Institute
