Join us on September 19 to explore the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in United States v. Windsor, which struck down section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act. Professor Gaylord will discuss the majority opinion’s novel intermingling of federalism and equal protection and what the case means for North Carolina, particularly North Carolina’s Amendment One.

Professor Gaylord is a constitutional law scholar at Elon University School of Law. His work focuses on First Amendment speech and religion issues. Before joining Elon, he practiced at Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson. He holds a Ph.D in philosophy from UNC-Chapel Hill and a JD from Notre Dame.
