Despite a professed commitment to the free exchange of ideas and robust debate, colleges and universities often stifle this process and model censorship by outlawing speech and expression they deem "politically incorrect." We are pleased to have Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) President Greg Lukianoff join us to explore this issue. FIRE's mission is to defend and sustain individual rights at America's colleges and universities. Greg joined FIRE in 2001, when he was hired to be the organization's first director of legal and public advocacy. Greg is a graduate of American University and Stanford Law School, where he focused on First
Amendment and constitutional law. Greg has published articles in the LA Times, The Boston Globe, the New York Post and is a frequent guest on local and national syndicated radio programs including CBS Evening News, The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes. Greg has also testified before the U.S. Senate about free speech issues on America's campuses.
The cost is $20.00 ($5.00 for students). Dinner is included. Members and non-members alike are always welcome. RSVP to Maurice Thompson at mthompson@buckeyeinstitute.org or 614-224-4422.
