Does the Second Amendment apply to state and local gun laws? Is a law prohibiting material support to terrorist groups unconstitutionally vague? May the government ban corporation-funded books and movies urging the election or defeat of candidates? Does the Commerce Clause allow the federal government to keep "sexually dangerous" prisoners locked up after they complete their sentences? Are judicial takings subject to Fifth Amendment scrutiny? These are all questions the Supreme Court will tackle this term, and Ohio Solicitor General Ben Mizer will guide us through these and other cases that you will want to follow. He will also look back at some of the most significant cases from last term.

Mr. Mizer is a graduate of the College of Wooster and the University of Michigan Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Michigan Law Review. He was a law clerk to Justice John Paul Stevens of the U.S. Supreme Court and to Judge Judith Rogers of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Mr. Mizer also served as an Associate Legal Officer at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands, and was an associate in the Washington, D.C. law firm of WilmerHale, where he specialized in constitutional and appellate litigation.
