Dr. John C. Eastman is the Henry Salvatori Professor of Law & Community Service at the Fowler School of Law of Chapman University. Dr. Eastman earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review. After graduation, he served as a law clerk with Justice Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court of the United States and with Judge J. Michael Luttig of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He joined the faculty of the Fowler School of Law in 1999, serving as Dean from 2007 to 2010. One of the Nation’s leading scholars of Constitutional jurisprudence, Dr. Eastman has published on a wide variety of topics, including the First Amendment, religious freedom, and birthright citizenship. He holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Government from the Claremont Graduate School, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dallas. He is the Founding Director of The Claremont Institute Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, and serves as the Chairman of the Federalist Society’s Federalism & Separation of Powers practice group. Dr. Eastman has written approximately seventy amicus curiae briefs for the Supreme Court of the United States.
