Proposition 47 and the Future of Criminal Justice Reform

Last November, California voters approved Proposition 47 -- a sweeping ballot measure that retroactively numerous nonviolent felonies to misdemeanors and has resulted in hundreds of inmates' being released from jail in Los Angeles County and throughout the state.  At this luncheon event, John Malcolm, director of the Heritage Foundation's Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, will discuss Proposition 47 and other criminal justice reform efforts underway in California and elsewhere, as well as related efforts being considered by Congress.
