On November 17, 2020, the Milwaukee Lawyers Chapter hosted an online interview with former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly.

Appointed to Wisconsin’s high court in 2016 by then-governor Scott Walker, Justice Kelly quickly distinguished himself as one of the Court’s most vocal and consistent advocates for textualism and originalism. Justice Kelly made the most of his four-year tenure on the high court, resolving a host of high-profile cases ranging from gun rights to warrantless home inspections and, perhaps most notably, beating the US Supreme Court to the punch in ending judicial deference to administrative agencies at the state level. Matthew Fernholz, the president of the Federalist Society's Milwaukee Lawyers Chapter, interviewed Justice Kelly about his remarkable time on the court and his plans for the future.

Speaker:

  • Hon. Daniel Kelly, Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice
  • Moderator: Matthew Fernholz, Cramer, Multhauf & Hammes, LLP
