On January 9, 2013 the Supreme Court heard oral argument in Maracich v. Spears. The case considers whether the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act permits a lawyer to access personal information from driver’s license records in order to find possible clients, including when the lawyer has filed a “placeholder” lawsuit and is seeking to conduct a direct mailing solicitation.
