- The Texas Supreme Court ordered the Houston City Council to place its LGBT non-discrimination ordinance on the ballot or to repeal it, in compliance with the city charter's referendum procedures. Voters gathered signatures to prompt this review. After initial acceptance by the City Secretary, the City Attorney determined that many of the signatures were invalid. The court ruled that the City Attorney acted outside of his authority in doing so. Read more about the opinion from Josh Blackman.
- The North Carolina Supreme Court upheld the state's school voucher program against a state constitutional challenge, reversing a lower court's 2014 decision. Read more at WRAL.
