You Can't Do That (Without a License)

One Cedar Street 3rd Floor
Providence, Rhode Island 02903

Rhode Island Lawyers Chapter

Speakers:

  • Clark Neily
  • Bruce McIntyre

Speakers:

  • Clark Neily, Institute for Justice
  • Bruce McIntyre, Rhode Island Bar Association

Clark Neily from the Institute for Justice will speak about his experience litigating against occupational licensing laws. His group has successfully challenged laws that required licensing for hairdressing, interior decorating, craft brewing, and other jobs that the state shouldn't be regulating. He may also speak about the recent North Carolina dentistry opinion from the Supreme Court--this may have practical application in any administrative appeal litigation you have.

Speaking in favor of licensing will be Bruce McIntyre, the president of the Rhode Island Bar Association. Mr. McIntyre is very involved in medical regulation and licensing and should provide an able counterpoint.

Please RSVP by emailing William Wray (wwray@dbslawfirm.com).

Lunch will be served.
