Mrs. Severino will give an overview of the notable cases on the Court’s docket for the 2014 term. The issues raised by these cases include the constitutionality of a state’s redistricing plans, the criminality of threatening statements made on social media networking websites, how an undersized fish fits into the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and Congress’s v. the President’s authority over passports and foreign affairs. 

Carrie Severino, former law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and to Judge David B. Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, is chief counsel and policy director to the Judicial Crisis Network. In that capacity she has briefed Senators and Congressmen on judicial nominations, appeared on MSNBC, FOX, and C-SPAN, and regularly speaks and writes on judicial issues. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School, cum laude, of Duke University, and holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Michigan State University.
