The Relationship Between State Attorneys General and the Federal Government

During the last few years, state attorneys general have found themselves in conflict with the federal government in areas where conflict is far from inevitable, and in which conflict might not exist absent the federal government’s increasingly aggressive view of its own power.  Notable areas of conflict include immigration, environmental regulation, and preclearance under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act.  General Strange will discuss some of these conflict areas.
