President Obama got his healthcare plan through Congress. But will he get it through the courts? And if so, how? Is it constitutional (or unconstitutional) because it relates (or doesn't relate) to interstate commerce? Is it constitutional (or not) because it's a tax? Maurice Thompson and Dan Kobil will explore these and related issues in a spirited and scholarly debate. Mr. Thompson is Executive Director of the 1851 Center for Constitutional Law, a non-profit constitutional rights advocacy firm, and recently won a victory in the Ohio Supreme Court allowing petitioners to collect signatures to place a challenge to the federal healthcare mandate on the Ohio ballot in November. Professor Kobil is an expert in constitutional law and Professor of Law at Capital University Law School.
