Supreme Court 2018 Term Preview - Knick v. Scott Township

Puget Sound Lawyers Chapter

Speaker:

  • Brian Hodges, Pacific Legal Foundation

The U.S. Supreme Court recently decided to hear Rose Mary Knick's constitutional case against her local government.  Scott Township (Pennsylvania) adopted an ordinance that allows people to trespass on Ms. Knick's property.  When she sued to prevent an unlawful taking of her property, the courts told Ms. Knick that her lawsuit was subject to the "Williamson County rule," which prevents federal courts from hearing certain takings claims.  Come hear Pacific Legal Foundation's Brian Hodges, one of Ms. Knick's attorneys, talk about this important case and what it could mean for property rights and access to justice.
