United States Senator Tom Coburn will discuss his time serving on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Tom A. Coburn, M.D. was elected to the U.S. Senate on November 2, 2004. Dr. Coburn and his wife, Carolyn, a graduate of Oklahoma State University and former Miss Oklahoma, were married in 1968 and have three children and seven grandchildren.

Dr. Coburn was a member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary from 2005 to 2012, and during that time served on the Subcommittees on Antitrust Competition Policy and Consumer Rights, Crime and Drugs, Human Rights and the Law, Administrative Oversight and the Courts, and Technology Terrorism and Homeland Security. Dr. Coburn is committed to confirming federal judges who will respect the Constitution and the original intent of our Founding Fathers and has stated he would oppose the confirmation of any judge who uses the bench to advance political agendas or to redefine American laws and institutions.  Dr. Coburn believes Congress has a constitutional obligation to limit the jurisdiction of activist judges who abuse their judicial power.
