Protecting America's Courts from Foreign Influence
Should organizations with ties to the Chinese Communist Party play a role in educating America's judges? Recent reporting has raised significant questions about the Environmental Law Institute (ELI), the nonprofit organization behind the Climate Judiciary Project, which provides educational programming on environmental law and climate issues for judges across the country. According to congressional investigations led by both the Senate and the House Judiciary Committee, ELI's relationships with Chinese government-linked entities have prompted concerns about foreign influence’s effect on judicial education and that these connections are undermining American national security and jurisprudence.
