Proposition 47 is a sweeping change to criminal law in California. Click here for a summary.

Its supporters promise that it will remove from California's overcrowded prisons convicts who do not belong there and reduce the number of felony non-violent crimes to allow for more rehabilitation of offenders. Opponents argue that it will result in the release of thousands of dangerous convicts currently in prison and take valuable tools from law enforcement for making our state safer.
