The Columbus Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society and The Buckeye Institute cordially invite you to a luncheon discussing the legal issues surrounding the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan. The Clean Power Plan is the EPA’s first attempt at regulating carbon emissions and aims to reduce power plant emissions by 32% by 2030. Twenty-six states and a number of other groups – including The Buckeye Institute – have challenged the Clean Power Plan. In February, the Supreme Court of The United States issued a stay on the implementation of the Clean Power Plan while litigation is ongoing in the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.   
 
Elbert Lin is the Solicitor General of West Virginia.  In that capacity, he reports directly to the Attorney General and acts as the State’s chief appellate lawyer, oversees the issuance of Attorney General Opinions, and manages all legal issues and litigation involving the federal government.  He is counsel of record for West Virginia in several cases challenging actions by federal agencies, including the case challenging the Clean Power Plan.
