About the Book:

A revised, updated, and retitled edition of Boaz's classic book Libertarianism:  A Primer, which was praised as uniting "history, philosophy, economics and law - spiced with just the right anecdotes - to bring alive a vital tradition of political thought that deserves to be honored today" (Richard A. Epstein, University of Chicago).

Libertarianism - the philosophy of personal and economic freedom - has deep roots in Western civilization and American history, and is growing stronger.  Two long wars, chronic deficits, the financial crisis, the costly drug war, the campaigns of Ron and Ran Paul, and the revelations about NSA abuses have pushed millions more Americans in a libertarian direction.

The Libertarian Mind has new, incisive chapters on core libertarian ideans such as natural rights, individualism, civil society, and free-market economics, along with an excellent intellectual history of the ideas of liberty.  New in this updated edition are discussions of the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama; the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street movements; and infringements on American civil liberties in cases ranging from massive surveillance of Americans' phones and emails to crusades to outlaw large soft drinks.  The Libertarian Mind is the ultimate resource for the currently burgeoning libertarian movement.
