Kevin Newsom is the former Solicitor General of the State of Alabama as well as a former U.S. Supreme Court law clerk to Justice David Souter. He has argued numerous cases before the Supreme Court, appearing most recently in March 2008 to argue on behalf of the Governor of Alabama in Riley v. Kennedy. He is a 1994 summa cum laude graduate of Samford University (B.A.) and a 1997 magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was an Articles Editor on the Harvard Law Review. Kevin is a member of the American Law Institute and has commented on legal issues for Fox News Channel, C-SPAN, National Public Radio, Time Magazine, USA Today, Forbes Magazine, and ABA Journal. He is currently a partner with the law firm of Bradley, Arant, Rose & White LLP.
Brian Fitzpatrick is an associate professor of law at Vanderbilt University Law School. Brian clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia. He is a 1997 summa cum laude graduate of Notre Dame (B.S.) and graduated first in his class in 2000 from Harvard Law School, where he was an Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Among other notable accomplishments, Brian served as Special Counsel for Supreme Court Nominations to Senator John Cornyn during the confirmation process of Chief Justice John Roberts. A 2005 New York Times article discussed Brian's contribution to the confirmation process and quoted Senator Cornyn as saying: "We recognized, particularly with
the Supreme Court vacancy, that we could use [Brian's] help. . ." Brian's research interests have included class action litigation, federal courts, judicial politics and constitutional law, and his work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the National Law Journal, the Detroit Free Press and the Washington Times.
