David Axelman serves as General Counsel to the Florida House of Representatives, where he advises House leadership on constitutional and other legal matters and represents the House's interests in litigation. Previously, he was General Counsel for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, where he managed the legal operations of Florida’s primary business regulatory agency. The Department’s jurisdiction encompasses the alcoholic beverage, tobacco, hotel, restaurant, and other industries, as well as more than two dozen licensed professions. Prior to joining the Department, David practiced commercial litigation at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner in Miami. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami, where he served as president of the Federalist Society’s student chapter.
