In the wake of COVID, the state of the legal industry can be summed up with just one word: "uncertainty." General counsel learned through two years of the pandemic how to navigate shifting budgets and flexible business strategies with a constrained labor market quietly forming the Great Resignation. Law firms also had to adapt to lawyers working from home and their clients facing unpredictable revenues. Courts, for their part, adapted to Zoom hearings and more. All the while, political tensions remain high as seen in our public discourse, private businesses, and law school classrooms. Environmental, social, and governance issues are only exacerbating these issues, forcing companies and firms to take public stances on hotly contested issues. So, what is the state of the legal industry? How do we navigate the next few years? What are the best practices?
