Hans von Spakovsky will discuss recent trends in voter identification laws, including North Carolina's recent legislation vetoed by Governor Beverly Perdue. Mr. von Spakovsky will also analyze legal challenges to voter ID laws as well as the history of election fraud.

Mr. Spakovsky is a Senior Legal Fellow and Manager of the Civil Justice Reform Initiative at the Heritage Foundation. Before joining the Heritage Foundation in 2008, he served two years as a member of the Federal Election Commission. Mr. von Spakovsky has also served at the U.S. Justice Department as counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights.

 

Cost: $10, which includes lunch (law students can attend for free if they do not want the catered lunch)
