Professor Smith is one of the nation’s foremost experts on campaign finance and election law. He served as a Commissioner on the Federal Election Commission, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Commission. A New York Times article called Smith the “intellectual powerhouse” of the movement to roll back campaign finance restrictions.
