Join us for an enlightened overview of federalism and the US Constitution. Follow as we chart federalism’s path from its philosophical beginnings through its historic transformation, and reexamine the power it has to reshape our country’s political and economic future. Our special guest is American Enterprise Institute Scholar Michael S. Greve, author of the newly released The Upside-Down Constitution, a provocative legal treatise that dispels much of the conventional wisdom to date on the US Constitution. Greve will describe how and why the original vision of federalism has given way to a system that rewards self-serving interest groups, and offer thoughts on what a new federalism might look like.

Michael S. Greve, John G. Searle Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, specializes in constitutional law, courts, and business regulation. Mr. Greve also heads the American Enterprise Institute’s Transatlantic Law Forum, and he is the Chairman of the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He is also a frequent contributor to the Liberty Law Blog, and teaches courses at Johns Hopkins University and Boston College. Prior to his engagement at AEI, Mr. Greve founded and co-directed the Center for Individual Rights, a public interest law firm specializing in high-stakes constitutional litigation. He is a graduate of the University of Hamburg, and earned a Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University.
