Some statistics suggest that as many as one and five women on American college campuses are sexually assaulted during their time there. Earlier this year, the White House launched a task force to examine the issue, and in April, the U.S. Department of Education released controversial new guidelines for colleges' adjudication of students' allegations of sexual violence and harassment. Critics charge that the statistics are misleading, and that colleges' responses are inadequate and unfair.

At this luncheon event, Heather Mac Donald, the Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, and Caroline Heldman, associate professor of politics at Occidental College, will discuss the campus sexual assault epidemic and the response to it. Former U.S. Attorney Debra Wong Yang will moderate the discussion.
