Kannon Shanmugam returns to give us an update on the most recent term of the Supreme Court of the United States. This year's term resulted in important decisions on the Defense of Marriage Act, California's Proposition 8, the Voting Rights Act, and the Fourth Amendment. Kannon, a partner at Williams & Connolly, has now argued 13 cases before the Supreme Court; in this term, his efforts incluced the case of Maryland v. King, an important decision on the ability of police to obtain DNA swabs from persons under arrest.
