Emerging technologies in highly regulated areas like financial services give states a unique opportunity to increase their share of venture capital investment, and allow improved products to reach consumers.  State-level regulatory innovations have the potential to provide sufficient benefits to reduce the dominant market share of incumbent venture capital centers. An example of such an innovation is the FinTech Regulatory Sandbox promoted by Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. In this Teleforum, our expert will explore whether federal agencies like the CFPB should grant regulatory exemptions pursuant to their broad statutory authority to prevent uniform federal regulatory schemes from reducing the benefits of state-level regulatory innovation.
