Spectrum Policy in the Age of a Spectrum Crunch
Telecommunications & Electronic Media Practice Group Teleforum
With policymakers acknowledging that the U. S. faces a real "spectrum crunch," especially as wireless usage grows exponentially, nationally known experts with divergent perspectives will debate a range of hot-topic key policy issues. These issues include the FCC's approach to spectrum allocation and assignments; the design of newly-authorized "incentive" spectrum auctions to free up underutilized spectrum; the role, if any, of spectrum caps in transaction reviews or otherwise; and the repurposing of government spectrum for private sector use. Our experts will answer questions from callers after their debate.
Featuring:
- Mr. Michael Calabrese, Senior Research Fellow, Open Technology Institute, New America Foundation
- Prof. Thomas W. Hazlett, Director, Information Economy Project, National Center for Technology and Law, George Mason University School of Law
- Moderator: Mr. Randolph J. May, President, The Free State Foundation
