Jesse Panuccio joined the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) as Executive Director on January 8, 2013. Prior to DEO, Mr. Panuccio served as the General Counsel to Governor Rick Scott where he managed legal affairs and staff of the Governor’s office, helped direct and coordinate litigation and legal policy across state agencies, advised the Governor on over eighty judicial nominations, and served as the Governor’s chief ethics officer.
Before joining the Scott administration, Mr. Panuccio practiced law with the Washington D.C.-based firm Cooper & Kirk PLLC, and served as a law clerk to Judge Michael W. McConnell of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He received his J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School where he served as Supreme Court Chair of the Harvard Law Review. He is a graduate of Duke University and is a member of the Florida and Washington D.C. bars.
