The Deputy Secretary position has long played a pivotal role in regulatory coordination within the executive branch. Deputy Secretaries are deeply involved in the regulatory process at their respective agencies, and they work together with Deputy Secretaries at other agencies (along with the White House) to advance a unified regulatory agenda across the government. Since taking office in January 2025, the Trump Administration has taken bold deregulatory action—requiring careful collaboration within and across federal agencies. This event joins two sitting Deputy Secretaries in conversation with a former Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs to discuss the role of the Deputy Secretary.
