Ambassador Boyden Gray is the founding partner of Boyden Gray & Associates, a law and regulatory strategy firm in Washington, D.C. Prior to founding his law firm, Ambassador Gray served our nation in various capacities both domestic and abroad. He served as White House Counsel to President George H.W. Bush, and following his service in the White House, he was appointed U.S. Ambassador to the European Union and U.S. Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy. In 1993, he received the Presidential Citizens Medal from President George H.W. Bush. Ambassador Gray also practiced law for many years at the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. He served as chairman of the Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice Section of the American Bar Association from 2000 to 2002.
Ambassador Gray earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Harvard University. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ambassador Gray earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was editor-in-chief of the Law Review. After law school, he clerked for Earl Warren, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Ambassador Gray teaches Energy, Environment and Security: Law and Policy at NYU Law School and serves on the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Council and The European Institute.
