Lott is currently the Dean's Visiting Professor at the State University of New York. He was Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute for five years and Senior Research Scholar at Yale School of Law. He was the John M. Olin Law and Economics Fellow at University of Chicago and Cornell University Schools of Law. He was appointed the John M. Olin National Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He also sat on the United States Sentencing Commission as Chief Economist.
