Kyle Duncan is currently in private practice in Louisiana where he has been hired by Attorney General Buddy Caldwell to defend legal challenges to Louisiana’s constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. Mr. Duncan was general counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty from January 2012 until earlier this year. At Becket Fund, he represented Hobby Lobby and the Green family in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby. As the Louisiana solicitor general from 2008 to 2011, he argued numerous appeals in state and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. From 2004 to 2008, he was an assistant professor of law at the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he taught courses on constitutional law, church-state relations, and free speech. He was an assistant solicitor general in the Texas Attorney General’s Office from 1999 to 2002. He received a J.D. from Louisiana State University in 1997 and an LL.M. from Columbia Law School in 2004, and he has clerked for Judge John M. Duhe, Jr., at the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
