Chief Justice Canady has a distinguished record of public service, serving in both the Florida House of Representatives and the United States House of Representatives. Upon leaving Congress, he became general counsel to Governor Jeb Bush, who later appointed him to the Second District Court of Appeal.
Justice Canady was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court by Governor Crist and, on July 1, 2010, he became the 54th Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court.
