This discussion will explore the legal process for recovering and repatriating stolen or looted art, including questions of ownership, claims for return, and available damages. Brian will draw on high-profile cases involving stolen cultural heritage, looted antiquities, and Nazi-stolen artworks, including the work of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Antiquities Trafficking Unit.
