Judicial nominations are among the most consequential decisions of any administration, and as the second term of the Trump administration advances, the federal courts are once again in focus. From district courts to the Supreme Court, judicial appointments play a critical role in shaping outcomes that directly affect South Florida lawyers and their clients.  This panel offers a behind-the-scenes look at the modern federal judicial nomination and Senate confirmation process. Featuring seasoned experts with experience in the White House, the U.S. Senate, and legal academia, the discussion will explore how the process works today, what has evolved, and what practitioners should anticipate as new judges join the federal bench.

Featuring:

  • Robert Luther, Associate Professor of Law, Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University
  • Jed Doty, Chief of the Appellate Division, Southern District of Florida U.S. Attorney's Office
  • Moderator: Hon. Rodolfo A. Ruiz, II - District Judge, District Court for the Southern District of Florida

Cocktail Hour from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, with panel discussion running from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
