Dobbs and the Supreme Court

On Monday, May 2, Politico published a leaked draft opinion in the pending Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization case. The Supreme Court confirmed the authenticity of the draft but emphasized that the draft does not "represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case." The draft, apparently written by Justice Samuel Alito, would overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey and thereby (in the author's view) "heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people's elected representatives."

A panel of experts will discuss the merits, the leak, and the business of the Supreme Court more generally.

Featuring:

  • Prof. Daniel Farber, Sho Shato Professor of Law, University of California - Berkeley; former law clerk, Justice John Paul Stevens
  • Prof. Sherif Girgis, Associate Professor of Law, University of Notre Dame Law School; former law clerk, Justice Samuel Alito
  • Carrie Severino, President, Judicial Crisis Network; former law clerk, Justice Clarence Thomas
  • Prof. Mary Ziegler, Daniel P.S. Paul Visiting Professor of Constitutional Law, Harvard Law School; Stearns Weaver Miller Professor, Florida State University College of Law
