Former Assistant to the President and Deputy Counsel to the President, Former NSC Legal Advisor

John Eisenberg is a national security and white-collar attorney, with deep experience in government and private practice.  Most recently, he served as the Legal Advisor to the National Security Council, Assistant to the President, and Deputy Counsel to the President.  In that capacity, he regularly advised the President of the United States on the legal issues surrounding the most important national security matters facing the country.  Earlier in his career, John served in several senior positions at the Department of Justice, including Associate Deputy Attorney General and Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel.  In private practice, John was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, initially focusing on white-collar and internal investigation matters.  Before leaving for the National Security Council, John increasingly devoted his time to developing a data breach and cybersecurity practice.  John is a graduate of Yale Law School, where he was an articles editor of the Yale Law Journal, and Stanford University.  John clerked for Judge J. Michael Luttig of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Justice Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court of the United States.
