On Monday September 17, the Wall Street Journal ran a Constitution Day article authored by Judge Don Willett, United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. In this editorial Judge Willett reminds us of the remarkable circumstances surrounding the Framer's establishment of our government through the Constitution. The judge then presents startling survey evidence that modern Americans are woefully unaware of the unique structure of our government and our rich civic inheritance. This portends further decline. But Judge Willett concludes with a charge that individual citizens can still have a positive impact and strive to keep our constitutional republic.
