Today, President Donald J. Trump waived the requirements of the Merchant Marine Act of 1920 – better known as the Jones Act – for Hurricane-battered Puerto Rico. The waiver takes effect immediately.
Also, today, the Regulatory Transparency Project released a paper written by Southern Methodist University Law Professor James Coleman which explains the Jones Act and argues for complete repeal.
