CLE Instructions for State Chapters Conferences
CLE credit is provided for in-person attendees who follow the steps below:
Step 1: REGISTER for the event.
Step 2: ATTEND IN PERSON.
Step 3: SIGN IN electronically upon arrival using the QR code which is available on the program and fill in your information. This must be done as you arrive, as a digital timestamp is required.
Step 4: SIGN OUT at the end of the day using the same QR code, as a digital timestamp is required. Several states require that attendees sign out.
Step 5: COMPLETE THE ATTENDANCE REPORTING FORM. Links to the attendance reporting form and evaluation form will be emailed within one business day of the event to all attendees who have signed in. The form is also linked on the electronic sign-in sheet.
Attendees who have completed the above steps will receive an email confirmation with their state reporting information and COA, where applicable, within two weeks of the event. If you have questions about the CLE process or your status or have not received your confirmation email, please contact us at cle@fedsoc.org.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours of CLE credit are available?
Check out the CLE information section on the event page for specific state approvals. Yellow CLE credit badges indicating total approved hours and ethics hours can be found below the banner on the main event page. Yellow CLE badges are also located next to each approved session.
Why does the state’s approved credit differ from what’s listed on the yellow CLE badges?
The yellow CLE badges are based on a clock hour, so a 60-minute panel will be listed as CLE 1.00 hours. Jurisdictions differ in their definition of a CLE credit hour (50 versus 60 minutes) and in how they round their credit hour, which can result in seemingly wide variations in approved credit for the same amount of time.
I don’t see my state listed. Can I still get CLE credit?
We apply to the jurisdiction(s) that are part of the state or region that is sponsoring the conference. For example, we apply to Texas only for the Texas chapters conference, but we apply to multiple states in the western region for the Western chapters conference.
How do I get CLE credit if my jurisdiction hasn’t been applied to?
Check with your state to see if they offer reciprocity for CLE events approved by another MCLE jurisdiction. In addition, some states allow individual attorneys to directly apply for CLE credit for attending out-of-state events. A certificate of attendance (COA) will be provided to all attendees who complete the attendance reporting form.
