In The Buckeye Institute’s latest policy report, “Worse Than You Think: Cincinnati’s Underfunded Pensions and an Analysis of Potential Reforms,” former principal deputy commissioner of Social Security Andrew Biggs concludes that Cincinnati’s pension system is far less fiscally sound than most people realize, facing unfunded liabilities of over $2.5 billion and a funding ratio of only 35%. Please join us for a lunchtime discussion, in which Dr. Biggs will be joined by noted economist Scott Beaulier to discuss the state of public employee pension systems, possible reforms proposed in Cincinnati, and what can be done to provide for public employee pensions while reducing long-term risk.
