Judge Edith H. Jones graduated from Cornell University with a major in economics, and received her J.D. with honors from the University of Texas Law School. She was employed by Andrews & Kurth, LLP, until appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and was sworn in in May, 1985. Judge Jones became the Chief Justice of the Fifth Circuit in January 2006.
