The internet is the new town square, where ideas are aired and exchanged. But as the internet replaces traditional media such as newspapers, the rules on the internet may be shifting. Social media platforms more actively ban participants and suppress and promote posts based on their content, and users tend to have their own ideas reinforced rather than challenged. What legal principles should govern the "new town square" and how will it affect political discussion and dissent around the country?
