Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod was recently confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on October 4, 2007, just over six months after her nomination. She is the fourth judge nominated to the Fifth Circuit by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the Senate. Previously, Judge Elrod served as judge of the 190th District Court in Harris County from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that, she practiced for eight years with Baker Botts L.L.P., specializing in civil litigation. Judge Elrod began her professional career as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Sim Lake. She obtained her law degree from Harvard University and holds an undergraduate degree in economics from Baylor University.
