Tavern Debate: Resolved: We’re all damned; there’s no rum left!

Chicago Lawyers Chapter

Since time immemorial, individuals have gathered in public houses and taverns to discuss the issues of the day, often with a touch of wit and jocularity, and usually with a drop or two of the amber nectar close by. Come join us as we recreate the spirit and the essence of an informed citizenry in a democratic republic with the first in a new series of parliamentary-style extemporaneous debates. Everyone who wishes will have an opportunity to speak either for or against the resolution and to stand for questions afterwards if you so choose (and we encourage you to do so). At the debate’s conclusion we will take a vote and the question will be resolved for all time.  It’s all done with grace and charm, with copious amounts of food and an open bar at hand to stimulate your thinking and lubricate your vocal chords.

“Resolved: We’re all damned; there’s no rum left!

You may define your terms and frame your argument as you wish.

This is an audience participation event. Please bring your friends, hoist a glass and join the debate!

Ample Libations (and food) will be served, and are included in the admission cost.
