Have Congress and the States attempted to solve too many problems by criminalizing behavior? When does—or should—ordinary behavior cross the line into criminal activity? How does overcriminalization impact judges and the task of judging? What should be done to reform criminal laws that are overbroad? How can legislatures re-think their approach to criminal statutes? Robert Alt, the president and chief executive officer of The Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions, will explore these issues. Mr. Alt has worked on the issue of overcriminalization both nationally—during his time with the Heritage Foundation—and in Ohio, where Mr. Alt and the Buckeye Institute have worked with the Ohio General Assembly on criminal justice reform efforts.
